For years the Popes defensive line has been their primary weapon and this has not changed. They were the key factor in this game. When Marion Sorenson had time he showed he could hurt the Popes and the Popes offense struggled to do much. But the defensive line and the special teams play for the Popes was magnificent and the difference in this game. Stephen Schenck may be a star in this Association very soon.

Despite some sloppy play, Wilson had seven penalties, the Tobs defense dominated this game. They completely shut down Erik Waters and Bernie Hall. Jeff Gray was hot in the first quarter and that was enough to get all the scoring Wilson would need. A big win for Wilson to keep them in the playoff hunt along with Charlotte and Rocky Mount.

The Patriots were never in this game. Derrick Smith and the offense struggled to get anything going. Durham meanwhile got a great game out of Edward Jeffcoat who is playing better each game. If this team is going to ever make a run at the playoffs with James Clark and Edward Jeffcoat it will have to be next year before age catches up with them. Charlotte faced this a few years ago and made some critical moves which pushed them to a Division title. Can Durham make similar off season moves to give Clark and Jeffcoat a shot?
