A tough defensive battle the Tobs offense proved better in this one. Rocky Mount only managed 9 first downs in this one and 4 of those came on penalties. Mike Ramsey had his first bad game of the season.

Kinston 6 at Raleigh 3

It wasn't a pretty win, but Kinston won because they were able to contain Raleigh's offense and move the ball pretty consistently. They are still struggling to score points, but their offense does seem to be playing better with each week. Raleigh had chances to score and make plays, but they were unable time and again to come through either on offense of defense.

Kinston
Marion Sorenson 22/34 214yds
Bernie Hall 23car/94yds
James Meier 12tt/6rec/63yds
Duane Buckley 2 of 4 long of 41yds

John Alli 12car/43yds
Scott Osullivan 8 tackles 2 knockdowns

Durham 10 at Winston-Salem 16

As expected this was not a pretty game, but Alan Crossen made it entertaining looking both horrible and great. The Twins defense completely shut down the Bulls passing game, and their offense racked up over 400yds of net yardage.

Gastonia 17 at Charlotte 11

The Pirates completely dominated this game on both sides of the ball. If not for a late fumble that setup the Charlotte touchdown this game would have had no tension in the last few minutes. The Gastonia defensive line was incredible putting consistent pressure on Royce Scott and shutting down any hopes of running the ball. At the same time the Pirates offensive line did a brilliant job of controlling the Charlotte defense. A very impressive win for the Pirates.

Gastonia
Harold Brooks 23/30 292yds 2TDs
Leon Baker 21car/41yds 1Fumble
Timothy Rodriguez 10tt/9rec/73yds 1TD

Charlotte
Royce Scott 20/36 173yds 1TD 1Int
Maurice Bloom 7car/6yds
Norman Rogge 12tt/6rec/59yds 1TD
