Rocky Mount 13 at Wilson 20
Shutout in the second half the Leafs watched as the Tobs defense and running game took the game away. Jon Query was solid throughout the game, but the offense just couldn't get going in the second half. Wilson was able to get a lot more pressure on Query and with no running game their offense fell apart. Meanwhile Joe Maryland chose to take the ball away from a struggling Derrick Smith and hand it to Ken Haslip. With Charles Davey laying blocks Haslip found room to run and the offense seemed to come to life. The real spark came after Raferty Tebbs forced a Query fumble early in the 2nd half. These two teams are both a product of their defense and both have up and down performances from their quarterbacks. Rocky Mount needs to find a running game if they hope to compete, look for Wilson to turn to theirs a lot more in the weeks to come.

Greensboro 10 at Kinston 20
Greensboro simply fumbled this game away. Their defense played great and they had some good standouts on offense but they had 4 fumbles. Credit has to go to the Kinston defense who still know how to hit hard despite starting 0-3 this season.

Winston-Salem 6 at Raleigh 15
Twins fans cannot be happy with their current team. James Martin has never lived up to expectations, Kelvin Ingram suddenly looks old and slow, their defense really contributes nothing, and they have no receivers. Amazingly they were still in this game late, but then their coaches decided to go for FGs instead of TDs when this team really needs something to bring them to life. Meanwhile Raleigh continues to play well and do what they need to win. They kept the Twins out of the endzone, put up enough points to win, forced turnovers and will move on as the leaders of the Coastal Division.

Asheville 13 at Rocky Mount 10
The Coastal Division teams continue to struggle against teams outside of their division. Jon Query has had a miserable year so far and though he looked better in this game he and the offense were unable to close the deal anytime they would get a drive started. They let Asheville hang around and on a late Scott Bublitz fumble gave the Tourists the opening they needed to get the win.

Wilson 16 at Kinston 13
Derrick Smith caught a lot of heat last week after his endzone pick late in the game against Burlington and he'll probably catch a lot of heat this week as well, but the Tobs got their first win and beat their most hated rivals knocking Kinston to 0-3. This game was really dominated by the Wilson defense who took over in the second half and completely controlled the game. Kinston lost one of their key offensive weapons Bernie Hall early in the 2nd quarter and they definitely missed him as their offense seemed unable to put anything together after he went out. The Kinston offense is struggling to do anything this year and at 0-3 they will have to start looking for some solutions.

Gastonia 38 at Greensboro 10
Gasonia looked a bit shakey early on in this game falling behind 10-0 early in the 2nd quarter, but once they got rolling it was over. Another solid performance from Harold Brooks who went down with an injury late in the game, and a fantastic performance from James Carter. Greensboro could do nothing on offense and as the game progressed nothing on defense.
