May the better defense win. Everyone knew this would be a defensive struggle and it didn't disappoint. Perhaps the most surprising thing was how effective Charlotte's much maligned offense was in helping them win the battle of field position. If Charlotte's offense can perform this well on the road then they should be in the playoffs come the end of the season.

A hard fought game dominated by both defenses. No team was able to run the ball effectively and both quarterbacks made some crucial mistakes. In the end Burlington's ability to hold Wilson to 1/13 on 3rd downs and come up with big defensive plays made the difference.

This was not a fun game to watch. Niether team played well and seemed incapable of doing anything on offense. Marcus Musson who looked so dangerous last week struggled to do anything this week. Giles Dixon who lost the starting HB job last season may be on the way out again with performances like this.
Jason Fisher 18/34 168yds
Marcus Musson 16/32 187yds
Giles Dixon 27car/57yds 3tt/3rec/8yds

It seemed as though when Asheville wasn't turning the ball over they were committing penalties in this sloppy game. To Durham's credit they did what they needed to win, and win easily. Charles Kissane wasn't the best looking QB in the league, but he did OK as did Maurice Bloom. The main thing here was they were able to take advantage of opportunities when presented and Asheville presented plenty of opportunities.
Charles Kissane 14/30 193yds 2TDs
Pierre Taylor 13/29 233yds 1Int 2 Fumbles
Maurice Bloom 29car/58yds
Rory Rocker 13tt/5rec/83yds 2TDs
John Young 13 tackles

This game was never in doubt with Gastonia dominating on both sides of the ball from beginning to end. Harold Brooks who did not impress last week was on the chopping block going into this game, but he perfomed in this game as coaches had hoped. Brooks has sat on the bench behind a very successful Darryl Sparks for years, and coaches felt that it was time he had a shot to show if he could bring anything to the team that Sparks lacked. Not sure if he's proven that yet, but he proved this week that he could put up good numbers and be deadly inside the 20.
